Week 6

Europe Is Regulating Twitter, Facebook, and Other Social Media—and Dangerously Overreaching

This week has by far been the most exciting since we were able to create our posters and learn many different sizes for all social media platforms. I do not spend much time on social media such as tweeting, posting, liking, but ever since we were allowed to make our own twitter account to represent our brand, I've been feeling more comfortable with Twitter. Also, with the LinkedIn videos to help me know all the features of Twitter, such as tweeting, retweets and how to build and be comfortable with your profile which others view publicly. Not only were there many good things I've learned about Twitter, it was pretty clear how harsh social media platforms can be, especially
Twitter. Abuse and harassment are very common on Twitter. Nobody online tends to take things seriously and believes everything could be used as a joke, including abuse and harassment. Jack Dorsey has believed that in order to change many negatives of Twitter is to follow a trend, follow a community or follow anything that is similar to that specific topic of interest. Many people on Twitter just tend to all have a goal for attention, whether its offensive or not. Although Twitter's very difficult to go through social media or Twitter more, specifically to have people call you out for your status. People will always tend to disagree with you and not support you simply because they want to boost their status bigger. I believe social media are a big competition for who can be more relevant.
